This was conveyed Ranitya Nurlita, students of the Institute of Agriculture (IPB), which participated in the Youth Exchange program between Nations (PPAN) representing the East Java province and Indonesia’s The Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP) 43rd. This event is held from October to December 2016.
Youth Ship Southeast Asia and Japan or the Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program ( “SSEAYP”) is an annual program organized by the Japanese government and supported by the countries of Southeast Asia. In Indonesia, this program is under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia. The program first started in 1974. In general, the program aims to improve understanding, mutual respect and friendship between the onset of Southeast Asian countries and Japan in the future.
“SSEAYP lasted for approximately two months, divided into two main activities, namely activities on board the Nippon Maru and Country Programs in the countries of Southeast Asia (ASEAN), which entered the cruise route. There are 330 youth aged 18-30 years who participate and come from 11 countries, namely Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei Darrussalam, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia. The main route in 2016 was Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia, “he explained.
Each state is led by one National Leader. Indonesia sent 28 participants as Indonesia Participating Youth (IPY) in 2016. SSEAYP Participants are young people who became provincial representatives from across Indonesia.
“Because I am actively explore the environment since five years ago, I had the opportunity to join in the theme of Environment, Natural Disaster Reduction (NDR). For I, the NDR is quite new to me, it is because before I explore the neighborhood on the issue of solid waste and green lifestyle. I am very interested in this new science, wish I could deepen after the program later. Environmental issues are very complex and we have to know what is in it, “he said.
Indonesian contingent “Garuda 43” managed to establish short and long-term program called I AM ABLE will be done in the area and their respective provinces. The goal of the program I AM ABLE is to increase the community’s concern with differently abled People (PDA) and sign language, creating inclusive communities and be a liaison between the community and the differently abled related parties in the region and their province. The program is expected to eliminate the gap still to be found between the PDA and the common people. By studying sign language it is expected to facilitate communication with PDAs and eliminate disparities.
Ranitya Nurlita (Lita) is a Water Resource Management Student, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) IPB. Lita has a dream of becoming a Environmetalist and also entrepreneurs who focus on environmental issues. Ranitya has a firm commitment on the issue of international environmental and initiative greatly to the change by being the Indonesian delegation to the Youth Forum International in various countries, such as Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Turkey, and the United States.
Aside from being a student, Ranitya also served became President HiLo Green Community in over 18 cities across Indonesia, the Indonesian team 2020 Free Trash, Founder and Project Director ASEAN Reusable Bag Campaign in ASEAN countries together YSEALI and various other stakeholders. Ranitya become Youth Ambassadors Indonesia to become Indonesia’s representative in SSEAYP.
